My dishwasher switches on but does not start

  • The problem might be due to electronic interference, in which case a "reset" must be carried out.
Try switching the dishwasher off by pressing the on/off button. Press the same button after a few seconds to restart the machine. Everything OK?

Or:

Try pulling out the plug and plugging it in again after a few seconds. Everything OK?
  • The dishwasher may not drain properly. if this occurs, the programme indicator lights should flash.
Check whether the drain hose was not squashed during installation.

Or:

Perhaps the installer forgot to remove the cap from the drain hose: verify whether the hose is properly inserted into the drain outlet of your home's plumbing system.

Or:

The drain outlet of your home's plumbing system could be clogged: remove the hose from the drain outlet and drain the residual water in a bucket.
  • The dishwasher may not intake water correctly and blocks as a result.
The intake hose filter may be clogged up by sand/limescale: try loosening the intake hose from the water supply valve and clean the filter.

Or:

Check whether the water supply valve is open or and that there are no interruptions in the water supply.

Or:

The water supply network pressure may be too low: check whether it is not below 0.5 bar.

Or:

Check whether the drain hose was not squashed during installation.

Or:

Wait at least 5 minutes: besides being very silent, the intake solenoid valve is slower compared to the old solenoid valves.

The dishwasher always carries out the same cycle or seems to modify it during washing

  • The dishwasher has actually carried out the cycle you selected.
The "Most frequently used cycle memory" function memorises the most frequently used cycle which the machine then repeats every time it is restarted, for practical reasons. To change the cycle, simply select the desired cycle by pressing button "P" and close the dishwasher door.

The same cycle indicator light appears every time I switch the machine on

The dishwasher seems too noisy during the washing cycle

  • Vibrations or hissing sounds may be due to excessive build-up of foam when multi-function tablet detergents (e.g. 3-in-1 detergents etc.) are used.
Set the tablet option, if available on your model, for every wash cycle.

Or:

If your model does not have the tablet option, try using half a tablet per cycle.

Or:

Improved washing results can be obtained by using powder detergents and adding liquid rinse aid in the appropriate compartment.

Water leaks from the dishwasher's door

  • You probably used too much rinse aid in the previous cycle and it partly overflowed from its compartment.
Rinse aid that overflows from its compartment and comes into contact with cold water creates a high, undesired amount of foam that may even leak from the dishwasher's door. When adding rinse aid, be careful to remove any spilt liquid with a cloth.

Strange bluish marks appear on the edges of my dishwasher's door

  • These bluish marks may be due to a misshaped seal housing.
Use a normal steel cleaning product.

The detergent tablet is still intact at the end of the cycle

  • The tablet may have absorbed moisture making it ineffective: it should melt immediately when it comes into contact with water.
In this event, try changing detergent or breaking up the detergent tablet.
  • Perhaps you are not running a complete washing cycle but only a rapid or soaking cycle instead.
Always break the detergent tablet when using the Rapid cycle.

I am not satisfied with my dishwasher's washing results

  • Dish arrangement on the rack may block the dishwasher's spray arms.
Before starting the cycle, try giving the dishwasher a small blow to reactivate proper spray arm rotation.
  • The spray arm holes may be clogged up by food residues.
Clean the holes using small tweezers and be careful not to damage the filter.
  • You probably used too much rinse aid in the previous cycle and it partly overflowed from its compartment.
Rinse aid that overflows from its compartment and comes into contact with cold water creates a high, undesired amount of foam that may hamper washing performance. When adding rinse aid, be careful to remove any spilt liquid with a cloth.
  • The dishes loaded in the dishwasher were pre-cleaned using a sponge soaked in hand washing detergent.
Hand washing detergents have a high foam-producing potential and are not suitable for dishwasher cycles. You should avoid introducing them in the tub, even if in small quantities.

My dishwasher leaves persistent white stains on dishes that do not go away even after washing them under running water

  • The stains may be due to excessive build-up of foam when multi-function tablet detergents (e.g.

  • The white stains may be caused by the water hardness levels of your water supply network and, consequently, from incorrect setting of the relative parameter on your dishwasher.
If your water supply network has particularly high water hardness levels, set the "water hardness" parameter above levels 4 or 5 (the dishwasher's default setting is 3).

Or:

If the problem persists, install a Calblock device which can be purchased at Indesit Technical Assistance Centres.

I am not satisfied with my dishwasher's drying results

  • The use of multi-function tablet detergent (e.g. 3-in-1 detergents, etc.) and the resulting excessive foam build-up may hamper the dishwasher's drying results.
Essentially, drying performance depends on the use of quality liquid rinse aid poured into the appropriate compartment. Should you prefer using tablet detergent, we recommend using half a tablet per washing cycle and to add liquid rinse aid into the appropriate compartment.
  • Did you add vinegar into the rinse aid compartment?
Contrary to common opinion, vinegar has opposite properties compared to rinse aid and it forms a rough layer on dishes which hampers drying.
  • The cycle you set does not include drying.
The Daily cycle, for example, does not include drying as it is among the rapid cycles (i.e. 1 hour duration).

I experience minor electric shocks when touching the dishwasher

  • Probably your home's electrical circuit does not have an "earth" connection or a radio/T.V. anti-interference filter (mandatory by law). In this event, the filter discharges small electric shocks through the person touching the dishwasher.
Check whether your home's electrical circuit has an earthing system and whether the latter is properly connected to the socket to which the machine is plugged into.

The washing cycle I set seems to last longer than that indicated in the user manual

  • Bear in mind that the times indicated in the user manual are purely indicative and vary according to the quantity and type of dishes and, above all, the type of dirt.
Washing cycle duration varies in the range of 10%.
  • The duration of the Short Time, Tablets and Good Night options may vary significantly compared to the times indicated in the user manual.
The Good Night option may last up to 4 hours. The Tablet option may increase the cycle's duration by about 10/15% compared to the time indicated in the user manual.

The lower spray arm has unclipped

  • To facilitate cleaning, the lower spray arm unclips "rapidly".
It is not broken: simply clip it back on making sure not to damage the two support flaps.
